Jeremy died, and Melissa was reduced to a vegetative state, and all because of Lindegaard’s complete control of a controversial new drug called tremethelene, used by millions worldwide. CSL was duly crushed, their leaders now in jail. But CSL has come back from the dead with a new leader called Charlie Sharland, threatening Dale Lindegaard’s tremethelene monopoly all over again. Lindegaard is determined to stamp them out for good and urges Robert Napier to do whatever it takes to rid him of them. Even murder.
As Samuel Wade’s living nightmare in the desert grows ever more bizarre and terrifying, Robert Napier is forced to work with Dean Villiers, a cold, calculating and violently ambitious man. I read extensively and I am always disappointed when the ending to the book is obvious when I am only half-way through it, as it then becomes a chore for me to find the incentive to finish the book since the outcome is known.However, this book held my interest throughout. Though the plot flips between two story lines, I felt it was well written. It was only in the closing chapter that everything tied together ....
Masterfully done!!!

Book started slowly - developing characters, etc. The middle was "Are you kidding me?". You will not see the ending coming. A rollercoaster of a ride through two different worlds that come together.
This was the first book I read by this author. I wasn't sure what to expect by the title. The story line had some twists and turns that were unexpected. I enjoyed this book and will look for others by this author.
The story was interesting and the setting was quite original. Perhaps "unexpected" is the best way to describe it. If you like original story lines and well developed characters, you will enjoy this book.
I don't usually read thrillers but I really enjoyed this book! And just when you're thinking you know who has done what Mitchell twists the answer around again. I have to say I would have liked more closure on what happens with Napier, Melissa, and Sam Wade but definitely a book worth reading and recommending.
I have come to be quite a fan of Mr. Mitchell and this was the 5th of his books that I have read. In today's world of X Boxes and other computer games, I found this novel to be very interesting. I have always thought that robots might have souls one day, but the characters in a computer game? Interesting.
I wasn't too sure about reading this book based on the other reviews that I had read but I figured I would give it a try. What a great mistake it would have been had I not gotten it. The story is all too relevant to today's world and keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times. No spoilers here but suffice it to say that it will keep you guessing til the bitter end. Loved this book!
I have to say I did like the book in the end, but at the beginning, it was like reading alternate chapters of two books...it wasn't until almost midway through that it begun to make sense. Yes, it was a thriller, but it was also sci-fi. I cant disclose what is going on because it would spoil the book for you....yes its worth a read, so if you like a mixture of believable sci-fi combined with a thriller, then you will enjoy it because it is well written.
