This reviewer finds no fault with the stories, having enjoyed them repeatedly since childhood in the beautifully illustrated book published in the early 20th century. We are living in an unsettled and uncertain time now, however, when copyright laws, family estate rights, editor decisions and changing media formats can prevent us from seeing an accurate facsimile of a cherished work. It is a good thing this book as presented on my Kindle Fire HD 7 was available for just a few coins; it certainly failed to meet the tablet's capabilities.
Granted, it was sold with almost an embarrassed apology and plea for forgiveness. What you get is:
1) no color paintings or pen and ink chapter heading illustrations
2) breaks, skip-aheads and fallback repeats of paragraphs where the illustrations had been
3) numerous misspellings that you must try, and sometimes fail to, translate
4) signs, symbols and spaces where none ought to be.
Perhaps many device readers are used to this by now. The technology has room to improve. I'm keeping the stories to re-read, but I would pay more for a far better facsimile, old fashioned illustrations and drawings included, and good proofreading.

The Queen Museum And Other Fanciful Tales Frank Richard Stockton Frederick Richardson 9781357035778 Books Reviews
This book would be worth the purchase price for the title story alone. "The Beeman of Orn," and " Griffin and the Minor Canon" are two other stories that are so different from modern story books! The edition that I ordered is a bit of a mess. Sections of the stories are misplaced or repeated. The scanning job from an original is dreadful. The stories are so wonderful that I still gave the book a five.
